Valoración del riesgo cardiovascular en los pacientes con enfermedad ósea de Paget (EOP) en Salamanca

[EN] Paget's disease of bone is a condition that is increased in prevalence with advancing age of the patients, being highest in the last decades of life. There is a school of thought which advocates that the disease could have a protective factor that would increase the survival, however, so far, this has not been confirmed. Mortality studies undertaken provide conflicting information, however in some of them have shown the wide overcoming life expectancy detected in patients with Paget's disease. In terms of mortality, we must take into account that the main cause of death in Europe is cardiovascular disease. There is controversy regarding the prevalence of diseases and cardiovascular risk factors in patients with Paget's disease. Given these premises, certainly not clear that patients with Paget's disease have about cardiovascular disease, open debate on life expectancy, taking into account the clinical observation of patients who make up the series Salamanca Paget's Disease with high survival and low morbidity may be referred the following working hypothesis developed in this thesis: "Patients with Paget's disease of the series of Salamanca may have lower cardiovascular risk and less cardiovascular disease than the rest of the population”.
