Identificación de personas mayores con alto riesgo de dependencia en medio comunitario: aproximación al estudio de sus determinantes de salud y curso de vida
Abstract
[EN] The objective of this thesis is to obtain more information and knowledge about health and aging conditions of people half a rural community, away from hospitals, specifically trying to identify people at high risk of dependence, with a view to optimizing clinical practice and the improvement in the political decision-making. Many studies have shown the effects of aging on the health status of older cohorts, but most were conducted in urban populations. In this case, taking into account an area where the literature is sparse: the rural areas and the integration of quantitative and qualitative information from the researcher's field experience and valuing the perspective of life in the pursuit indicators that help prevent dependency. To do so, the data source of a cohort of more than two municipalities in the province of Salamanca. This paper is structured as follows: Chapter 2 describes the cross-sectional study which formed the basis of the study. Chapter 3 describes the cut was made after two years to measure and objectify monitoring changes in the areas of greatest consideration: self-rated health, prescription drug, geriatric functional assessment and quality of life and its determinants. Chapter 4 integrates the qualitative data obtained from the records and focus group dynamics implemented during the second inning in the field. Chapter 5 lists the conclusions and reflects on their findings, looking at the implications for political decision-making in health.
