Arcillas especiales de Tamame de Sayago (Zamora): mineralogía, génesis y propiedades
Abstract
[EN]We performed a study on the site of Arcillas especiales de Tamame de Sayago (Zamora), from different points of view: mineralogical, different genetic and physicochemical properties of clays therein exploit: kaolinite and smectite. The mineralogy of kaolinite, smectite and alunite (minor mineral that provides great information) has been carried out by X-ray diffraction, and SEM studies microtexturales by FEG, FT-IR spectroscopy, geochemical analysis, and thermal cristaloquímicos. The most important results indicate that the deposit kaolinites have high crystallinity, euhédrica pseudohexagonal morphology with a size between 100 nm and 1 micron, are very rich in iron and silica have excess. The dioctahedral smectites are high crystallinity and nature beidellítica altered if from granite and if from montmorillonite veins in both cases the most frequent interlaminar cation is Ca, Mg followed. There is a continuous compositional variation between kaolinite and beidellite, wherein the intermediate terms have possibly disordered small percentages of interstratified kaolinite-smectite. Continuous compositional variation also exists between the montmorillonite and beidellite The reservoir is formed by a superposition of two processes. First a Paleozoic granite weathering that caused a widespread caolinitización. And secondly, a related bentonitización fluid flow along fractures in different pulses, which began at the base of the Cretaceous-early Paleogene, coincident with the onset of depression Duero Basin, and continued after the Tertiary sedimentation materials lining the reservoir. The physicochemical properties and application studied are most relevant within the absorption and ceramics markets.
