Enhancing Bamberton Quarry's Reclamation and Closure Program

This study addresses the gap in Bamberton Quarry's Reclamation and Closure Program (RCP), focusing on regulatory compliance, community engagement, and technical content, given the complexity of current regulations and environmental management requirements.Using a convergent parallel case study design, informed by a pragmatic perspective and constructivist elements, the study combines historical data analysis with local perspectives to provide a comprehensive understanding of reclamation and community engagement. The methodology involved interviewing three highly knowledgeable community stakeholders to provide depth and contextual insights. The aim was to identify deficiencies through a semi-systematic review and triangulation of collected information, a temporal analysis of satellite images, and an evaluation of the completeness of the current RCP. The limitation is the availability of open information from the Malahat Nation due to environmental sensitivity. The study will serve as a basis for reassessing the viability of future land use.
