Exploring Experiences and Perceptions of NCR Offences

This study sought to explore the needs of victims of individuals deemed NCR through the lens of victim service providers. This study was conceptualized due to a lack of literature addressing victims of individuals deemed NCR. Utilizing a narrative methodology, semi-structured interviews were conducted with two participants. Through an in-depth exploration of their lived experiences, the data revealed three major findings. The major areas of victim needs were tailored support to unique victim responses, professional collaboration and division of responsibility, and addressing challenges and limitations of victim services. This study concluded with recommendations on how to address these needs, including adjustments to the victim service delivery model and increased government funding. Limitations of this study included sample size and the absence of direct victim perspectives. This study has important implications for future research, practice, and policy, with areas of future research centered on increased sample sizes to improve academic rigour.
