Evaluation and implementation of a new teacher mentoring program

<p>The purpose of this exploratory investigation was to ascertain the effectiveness of a current mentoring program at Christopher Columbus Charter School and determine the best ways in which to make the program more effective. Throughout this study, the researcher surveyed and held informal conversations with the mentors and the mentees involved to gain insight into the needs of novice teachers. The study was conducted with a limited number of subjects and a majority of the data gathered was through observation and informal conversations. The study was conducted over an academic school year. The study discussed the current mentoring program in practice and identified the areas of weakness. Together with the researcher, the mentors and mentees discussed recommendations for improvements needed in the program. Implications for the future of the program were discussed.</p>
