A degrowth critique of orthodox political economy: support for undifferentiated economic growth as an elite and minority ideology in the island of Ireland
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis thesis provides an empirical assessment of different segments of the population in the Island of Ireland on the topic of undifferentiated economic growth using as explicit degrowth stance. It positions support for growth as an ideology creating and circulating a false picture of reality (that economic growth can go on forever; or that it can be 'greened'). It investigates the extent of the support for economic growth among elites and citizens in the island of Ireland by providing groups understand, relate and support or critique economic growth.<br/><br/><i>Thesis embargoed until 31 July 2027. </i>
