Abstract
dc:description.abstractThere is no general method for modeling folded structures, and in particular the sole example of a program for folding paper is incapable of simulating complex manipulations. The new Ada program described in this report correctly folds mountain and valley folds, as did its predecessor, but it takes an additional step towards becoming a complete model by folding tucks as well. The existing program by Robert Lange was unable to do this, which limits its usefulness, whereas the new model can be used to simulate the folding of many complex traditional origami forms. This report describes a program written for folding origami and explains the structures and methods used. The appendices include the specification and complete implementation of the routines for manipulating the paper's abstract data type, as well as a listing of Ada package specifications for some of the libraries used.
