Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p><em>Dead in the Crosswalk</em> is a collection of poetry that seeks to examine the intersections of trauma, mental illness, and monstrosity. Told through the lens of fictional monsters, the collection examines the ways in which mental illness and trauma recovery exist in circular patterns while the speaker struggles to regain control of the illness. In this way, the collection seeks to disrupt the Cure/Kill dichotomy in mental illness narratives by presenting illness as a condition that continues alongside the speaker as life carries on.</p>
