The Geopolitical Rise of India and the Development of Sino-Indian Relations

This thesis studies Indian strategic culture and evolution of that culture to the present day. The development of India’s strategic culture is analyzed for its effect on modern Indian grand strategy and geopolitics, with the argument that an evolution in Indian strategic thought has taken place that will allow India to become a great power in the international system. Knowledge gained from analyses of these areas in then applied to the Sino-Indian relationship in order to gain insights for understanding the future of southern Asian security relations. Some basic theoretical conceptions are applied in this research, although the primary means of gaining information is through analyses of practical policy.
