Optimization of vacuum pump device for use in rapid fitment of prosthetic limbs
Abstract
dc:description.abstractDeveloping World Prosthetics NGO has been in contact with the Jaipur Foot Organization in order to create a human powered vacuum pump for a new technique in prosthetic fitment. The new technique would provide mobility to fitment camps due to the non-reliance of an electrical grid. The design however would need to meet the demands of third-world conditions and heavy, continuous usage. This thesis seeks to explore a variety of mechanisms in order to meet the required specifications of the JFO and the new technique.
