A design study of a power and heating plant for the University of Kansas

It is not the purpose of this study to enter into the minute details of a plan, but to make only a preliminary examination of the problem. The problem, as presented here, is given as one of several studies which might be made before the final details are worked out. For this reason, only such drawings as will convey the general idea in mind have been made. The heating problem has been carried to the determination of the amount of heat to be supplied. The details of the heat distribution have not been solved. The purpose, in general, has been to show the preliminary methods and calculations necessary in designing a plant. Approximate and not exact cost data only can be given. That more nearly correct cost estimates may be made it will be necessary to make suitable surveys upon the site chosen, and to have more complete details of the plant installation. At the present time these are not available.
