Abstract
dc:descriptionIN THE PRESENT THESIS THE ANALOG FAULT DIAGNOSIS PROBLEM IS INVESTIGATED AND NOVEL THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL TECHNIQUES ARE PRESENTED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OF INTEREST DURING THE LAST THIRTY YEARS. THE CIRCUIT THEORISTS' INTEREST WAS INTENSIFIED IN THE LATE OF THE PREVIOUS DECADE RESULTING TO THE PUBLICATION OF A SPECIAL ISSUE OF IEEE (CAS-26, JULY 1979) INCLUDING A REVIEW PAPER WITH EXTENSIVE BIBLIOGRAPHY (DUHAMEL AND RAULT). HOWEVER, DUE TO THE INHERENT PROBLEMS IN FAULT DIAGNOSIS OF ANALOG CIRCUITS SUCH AS TOLERANCES, NONLINEARITIES, LACK OF PROPER FAULT -SIMULATION MODELS E.T.C., NO GENERAL METHOD HAS BEEN YET ESTABLISHED, AS IT IS ALSO STATED IN TWO RELATED REVIEW PAPER OF THE LAST FEW YEARS (LIUET AL. 1983, BANDLER AND SALAMA-1985). THE GOAL OF THIS THESIS IS THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW TECHNIQUES FOR ANALOG FAULT DIAGNOSIS WHICH ARE MORE EFFICIENT THAN THE KNOWN ONES IN FACING THE ABOVE MENTIONED PROBLEMS. (SHORTENED)
