Η ΕΠΙΔΡΑΣΗ ΤΗΣ ΑΣΙΤΙΑΣ, ΠΡΩΤΕΙΝΙΚΗΣ ΔΥΣΘΡΕΨΙΑΣ, ΚΥΤΤΑΡΟΣΤΑΤΙΚΩΝ ΚΑΙ ΑΝΤΙΒΙΟΤΙΚΩΝ, ΣΤΗΝ ΑΚΕΡΑΙΟΤΗΤΑ ΤΟΥ ΒΛΕΝΝΟΓΟΝΙΟΥ ΕΝΤΕΡΙΚΟΥ ΦΡΑΓΜΟΥ. (ΠΕΙΡΑΜΑΤΙΚΗ ΜΕΛΕΤΗ)
Abstract
dc:descriptionWE PERFORMED AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY USING 136 WISTAR RATS AND WE INVESTIGATED THE EFFECT OF STARVATION, PROTEIN MALNUTRITION, ANTIBIOTICS AND CYTOSTATICS ON THE GASTROINTESTINAL MUCOSAL BARRIER. EACH FACTOR WAS EXAMINED EITHER ALONE OR INCOMBINATION. WE STUDIED THE BACTERIAL TRANSLOCATION FROM THE INTESTINAL LUMEN TO MESENTERIC LYMPH NODES, LIVER, SPLEEN, KIDNEY AND LUNGS, BY CULTURING TISSUES FROM THE ABOVE ORGANS AFTER SACRIFICE. THE PERIOD OF STUDY WAS 24-72 H, AFTERTREATMENT. THE TERMINAL ILEUM OF EACH EXPERIMENTAL ANIMAL WAS HISTOLOGICALLY EXAMINED. IN CONCLUSION IT WAS PROVED THAT ADMINISTRATION OF A SINGLE HIGH DOSE OF A CYTOSTATIC OR ANTIBIOTIC AGENT IN HEALTHY ANIMALS DOES NOT RESULT IN BACTERIAL TRANSLOCATION, NEITHER DOES STARVATION OR PROTEIN MALNUTRITION ALONE. IN ADDITION A HIGH DOSE OF AN ANTIBIOTIC ADMINISTERED OVER A PERIOD UP TO 36 H TO STARVING OR PROTEIN MALNOURISHED ANIMALS RESULTS IN NO BACTERIAL TRANSLOCATION. THIS WAS FOUND THOUGH WHEN THE DRUG WAS GIVEN OVER A PERIOD OF EIGHT DAYS. ON THE OTHER HAND ADMINISTRATION EVEN OF A SINGLE DOSE OF A CYTOSTATIC IN STARVED OR MALNURISHED RATS INCREASES SIGNIFICANTLY THE BACTERIAL TRANSLOCATION TO MESENTERIC LYMPH NODES AND THE FURTHER TRANSLOCATION IN SPLEEN, KIDNEY OR LIVER. FINALLY, ANTIBIOTIC ADMINISTRATION OVER A LONGER PERIOD SEEMS TO FURTHER INCREASE THE BACTERIAL TRANSLOCATION CAUSED BY A SINGLE DOSE OF A CYTOSTATIC AGENT. IN CONTRAST WHEN AN ANTIBIOTIC IS ADMINISTERED OVER A SHORT PERIOD, IT SEEMS TO PROTECT FROM BACTERIAL TRANSLOCATION IN STARVED, MALNOURISHED ANIMALS TREATED WITHA SINGLE DOSE OF A CYTOSTATIC.
