Abstract
dc:descriptionA TRANSVERSE CRACK ON A SHAFT CAUSES A COMPLIANCE (LOCAL FLEXIBILITY). THIS COMPLIANCE IS REPRESENTED BY A MATRIX 6X6, WHICH IS CALCULATED ANALYTICALLY. THE ASSYMETRY IN THE CRACK AREA CAUSES COUPLED VIBRATIONS. THIS PROPERTY IS USED TO DEVELOP A NEW METHOD FOR THE DETECTION OF A CRACK IN ROTATING AND NON-ROTATING SHAFTS. THE EXPERIMENTS SHOW VERY GOOD AGREEMENT OF THE ANALYTICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS.
