ΠΡΟΣΤΑΣΙΑ ΚΑΤΑΣΚΕΥΩΝ ΑΠΟ ΜΑΡΜΑΡΟ ΜΕ ΧΑΛΑΡΑ ΣΥΝΔΕΔΕΜΕΝΑ ΦΙΛΜ ΠΟΛΥΜΕΡΩΝ
Abstract
dc:descriptionIN THIS WORK, WE INVESTIGATE THE PROTECTIVE EFFICIENCY, IN RESPECT TO MARBLE CONSTRUCTIONS, OF LOOSELY ATTACHED POLYMER FILMS. FOR THE EVALUATION OF THE EFFICIENCY OF THE MATERIALS TESTED, THE ATTACK IN BARE AND PROTECTED SPECIMENS WERE STUDIED IN SEVERE LABORATORY CONDITIONS (HIGH CONCENTRATION OF SO2). THE ATTACKIN BARE MARBLE SPECIMENS EXPOSED FOR A LONG PERIOD IN A POLLUTED URBAN ATMOSPHERE WAS ALSO STUDIED. THE CORRELATION OF THE RESULTS DERIVED FROM LABORATORY TESTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL ATTACK, CANNOT BE RELIABLE MAINLY DUE TO THE DIFFERENT CHEMICAL CHARACTER OF THE REACTION PRODUCTS (CASO3.K2H2O AND CASO4.2H2O RESPECTIVELY). BEST RESULTS, AMONG THE POLYMERS TESTED GAVE THE FILMS OF PVDC, PTFCE, AND CELL/LDPE, LOWERING FOR AT LEAST 100 TIMES THE ATTACK. THE USE OF LOOSELY ATTACHED POLYMER FILMS CAN OFFER SUFFICIENT PROTECTION FOR MANY YEARS IN A MONUMENT, SIMULTANEOUSLY COMBINING THE ADVANTAGE OF REVERSIBILITY. THE VERSATILITY IN THE POLYMER SELECTION AND MODIFICATION ALLOW THE SOLUTION OF PROBLEMS ARISING FROM REQUIREMENTS OF MECHANICAL, AESTHETICAL AND OPERATIONAL CHARACTER.
