Abstract
What makes a self? Where is the line between outward appearance and identity? This thesis is a collection of poems which examines through the artifice of Greek myth and entomology a transgender and neuro-divergent experience. Prosopon is Greek for “face” and “mask,” particularly referring to the masks of ancient Greek theater. The speaker of this collection puts on various masks—utilizing the personas of Caeneus, Medusa, and Zeus. The speaker also reaches out through encyclopedia like entries about various moths, relaying a variety of biological and folkloric information about the species. Ultimately, Prosopon reaches out to the reader, asking them to see through these layers and masks.
