Abstract
dc:description.abstract
This thesis is about the history of Italian women and the family from the early 1900’s to the present. The thesis touches upon four phases of history which have influenced family life and the history of Italian women. The four phases are: World War I, Fascism, World War II, and the post war economy and politics. The thesis demonstrates that throughout these events the Italian family managed to remain at the center of the social life of the Italian people. Women are the core of the families and have proved to be the strength behind the family.
