Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>The purpose of this dissertation is to investigate the syntax of the finite verb and the nominal forms of the verb in Quintus Curtius' History of Alexander, Book VIII, and to note the author's conformity with or departure from classical usage. The text used is that of Edmund Heidicke in the Loeb Classical Library Series (1946). Since this study deals only with Book VIII, In citations of the text the book number Is omitted and only the section and line numbers appear in their respective order.</p> <p>In classifying the syntax of the verbs, I have followed for the most part the norms set down in Gildersleeve-Lodge. When clarity demanded, I made use of Allen and Greenough, Bennett, Bradley's Arnold, Palmer, and Woodcock.</p>
