Relations of Mission San Gabriel to the Beginning of Diocesan Organization in Southern California

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

The present dissertation purposes to set forth the influence of Mission San Gabriel on the development of the Los Angeles area, politically in a minor sense, ecclesiastically in a major sense. The ecclesiastical or religious growth of a region coincides largely with its political or secular growth. Hence, the writer has endeavored to treat the general development of the locality in so far as it has influenced the ultimate development of diocesan organization.
