An Educational Video Illustrating the Theories of Margaret Naumberg and Edith Kramer: "Art as Therapy" and "Art as Psychotherapy"

<p>The subject of this thesis is an educational video describing the two main theories upon which the discipline of art therapy was established. The video is designed to illustrate both of these schools of thought using the therapeutic interventions and assessments specific to each theory. This thesis ultimate goal is to present educational material in a way that could be understood by as many people as possible. Video is chosen as the least likely to isolate those without knowledge of art or psychology. I attempt to establish that video is a powerful educational device for the same reasons art is used to communicate and ultimately heal with. Implications of educational material presented in video format are further discussed because of rapid technological advancement and the changing ways in which we learn. The final result of this thesis is a 10-minute educational video illustrating the theories of Edith Kramer and Margaret Naumberg: Art as Therapy, and Art as Psychotherapy.</p>
