A periferia urbana como lugar da educação patrimonial: o ensino de História no Grande Bom Jardim

This dissertation is a production of reflections and practices about potentialities of the urban periphery as place of the construction of historical knowledge, focusing in Grande Bom Jardim, a neighborhood in Fortaleza. The work was inserted in the line of research Historical Knowledge in Different Spaces of Memory and has as main issue think three cultural assets such as places of Heritage Education within the teaching of history. These are the cultural assets: Praça de Santa Cecília, Centro Cultural do Bom Jardim and the Ponto de Memória. As historical sources were used questionnaires, reports and field notebooks produced by students throughout the research, as well as newspapers, reports made by public bodies and civil society organizations and oral sources. From the intersection of these different traces and through the methodology of Heritage Education, was also produced a guide to Heritage Education for the three places mentioned above, which intends to present to the history teachers a way in the construction of proposals of classes to walk through the other peripheral urban territories of Brazil. Therefore, the object of study of this research is the cultural assets of the neighborhood indicated above and the way they can give rise to the construction of historical knowledge from its recognition as local heritage. The main objective of this paper is to understand heritage education as a methodology that can be applied in the teaching of history in urban peripheries and as specific objectives: to understand historically the notion of citizenship in basic education, to broaden the understanding of what is cultural heritage and to present to history teachers a possibility of teaching and learning in this area of knowledge from the students' place of experience.
