Bairro de Mangabeira: um subcentro urbano na cidade de João Pessoa/PB.

The current paper is titled as the Mangabeira Neighbourhood as one of the most important urban sub-centers from the city of João Pessoa, PB. In a more precise way, the theme approaches the urban sub-centrality disposition in the tertiary sector of the neighbourhood. More specifically, in the fact of reflecting to the urban economy of the city of João Pessoa. For purposes of verifying the importance of Mangabeira’s intra-urban polarization and which consequences made of this suburbs one of the most important to the whole city, related to business activities and service. For the preparation of this paper two main methods was used: the search technique and the approach method, that, respectively, means the data collection and the phase of cientific interpretation, suported by the theoretical-philosophical grounding. Within the referred study it was concluded that the intra-urban polarization of Mangabeira was started by the population dynamics which, since the founding of the neighbourhood, has followed its territoral growth. Among other factors that influenced this feature of the neighbourhood, there is its geographic location compared to the downtown and even to other suburbs. Thus, it can be said that the listed factors are the most determinative influencers to the Mangabeira Neighbourhood in the aspect of being consolidated as an urban sub-center of the city of João Pessoa, PB.
