Aspectos físicos e o uso do solo na microbacia do rio da ribeira, município de Santa rita – PB.
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe way the man has appropriated natural resources, has been revealed the source of many problems in the environment, which has been reflected directly decreasing natural resources and quality of life. The erosion and loss of soil are part of these degenerative processes of the natural landscape. The Rio Ribeira’s watershed, located in Santa Rita, Paraíba, is a current example of such processes that are directly associated with the form of the land use. Actions arising mainly from the extensive planting of sugar cane has been revealed through the development of geomorphological processes that mark the landscape with erosional features as small fillets, grooves, and gully, plus a large quantity of alluvial fans that protrude over the lowlands, often choking small streams and springs. Aside from these aspects should be highlighted the large amount of pesticides used on this crop, which infiltrate the soil, then reappear on the surface through upwelling polluting the river water. The geomorphological changes in the area are closely related to the intensive use of land for sugar cane cultivation to be held since the colonial period in Brazil and subsequently through two small urban centers developed in the left margin at the top and lower course of this river. To classify the relief and the processes associated with it, we used remote sensing techniques and field activities, obtaining as a final product the relief maps and the use and occupation of land.
