Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe use ofantimicrobialdrugsgavetheircontributiondecisivelytothereductionofmortalityrelatedt obacterialinfections. In contrast, theincrease in bacterialresistancetothesetypesofdrugshasbecomeofincreasingconcern. Thisworkaimstoevaluatetheresistanceofbacteriaidentified in urine culturesofchildren in thepediatricwardoftheUniversity Hospital Lauro Wanderley (UHLW). The research for thisworkwasthequantitativedocumenttypeandhadaninstrumenttherecord books oftheMicrobiologysectionoftheLaboratoryofClinicalAnalysesof UHLW, containingresultsof urine cultureandsensitivityofpediatricpatients, ontheperiodJanuary 2012 toDecember 2013. The resultsshowed a higherincidenceofurinarytractinfections (UTI) in male children in 2012 (66%), andfemales in 2013 (66%). Amongtheorganismsisolated in urine culturesanalyzed, theprevalencewas Escherichia coli (33% - 2012; 45% - 2013) and Klebsiellapneumoniae (33% - 2012/2013). Antimicrobialgroupof β -lactamscaused high bacterialresistance, with rates of 67-100% amongstrainsofdifferentmicroorganismsanalyzed, indicatingincreasinglyneedtoreplacetheseagents in theclinic, providinguserswithanever more precise treatmentandquality.
