A biblioteca escolar e o incentivo à leitura na primeira infância: as representações sociais dos pais dos alunos do Infantil IV da Escola Vida Ativa

The reading, for their countless benefits and fundamental role in the development of the individual, should be encouraged from the earliest years of life, and without doubt, the family has a major role in this process, though she is responsible for passing the first values and customs. But it is in the school environment, where most of the time you learn the first letter, that this skill is developed resources to be better. In this sense, it is essential that these educational institutions to make available a school community library that can effectively collaborate with the training activities and encourage reading. Thus, the present study, descriptive and qualitative in nature, seeks to analyze the social representations of the parents of the students of the Child IV School Vida Ativa, in relation to the structuring role of the school library plays in the process of encouraging reading during the early childhood. Through the questionnaires identified the profile of respondents and asked about the importance of encouraging reading in childhood, the family's participation in this process and the collaboration on the installation of a school library could generate for the benefit of students. Thus, the school library is perceived as an important instrument for encouraging reading as a space created to promote access to information in its various aspects and where the child can also participate in cultural activities, raising their level of knowledge. In addition to these information units also function as a facilitator for the great teaching.
