O bibliotecário e sua contribuição enquanto mediador da informação cultural

The present paper presents a view about the acting of librarian as a mediator of cultural information in Culture Centers. Thus,information mediation consists of an intervention performed by a professional who mediates information and a user who needs information. In this context, the research aims to know the contribution of librarian as a mediator of information in spaces that develop cultural activities. This way, based on the applied methodology, it is possible to identify the activities developed by a librarian as a mediator of cultural information; to identify the difference between information mediation and cultural mediation; to identify the activities of a librarian as a mediator of information in a cultural space. Therefore, it is an exploratory and descriptive research in a qualitative approach. A questionnaire with subjective question was the data collection tool. In addition, the research had as its environment of study the City Park Dom Nivaldo Monte, which is in Natal/RN and the Cabo Branco Station - Science, Culture and Arts, located in João Pessoa/PB. The subjects of research were two people that work directly as information mediators. From the treatment of data and the interpretation, it was verified that the librarian has competence to work as a mediator of information in places that develop cultural works and actions, contributing with activities that are pertinent to the work environment and the users who search for information in Culture Centers.
