Impactos da atividade turística no Estado da Paraíba empregando-se o modelo de insumo-produto
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe tourism sector encompasses numerous economic activities and through the expansion of tourism in the State of Paraíba, this research aims to measure the direct, indirect and induced effects on employment in this State. For this, the input-output model built by Banco do Nordeste for the year 2004 was used for created three scenarios of expansion for tourism in the Paraíba: a scenario with low growth, moderate growth scenario and a scenario with a significant growth. In the analysis performed for each scenario were considered tourist spending with segments of lodging, meals, local transportation, shopping and other services; calculating this manner, shocks generated upon employment. Among the segments considered, it was found that the Other Services segment is what generates more direct and induced jobs, while food service is what promotes more indirect jobs. Regarding the scenarios, it was observed that in the low-growth scenario would be an increase of 433 jobs, with 313 in Paraíba, 53 in the Northeast and 67 in Brazil. In the moderate growth scenario Tourism would increase 866 jobs, with 624 in Paraíba, 106 in the Northeast and 136 in Brazil. While the significant growth scenario, there would be an increase of 1.297 jobs, with 938 in Paraíba, 157 in northeast and 202 Brazil. Accordingly, it is noticeable the potential of the tourism sector in employment generation, thereby contributing to the local economy.
