Avanços e atrasos na configuração socioeconômica do Estado da Paraíba a partir do processo de reestruturação produtiva (1990 à 2013)

This work presents the " Advances and delays in socioeconomic configuration of the Paraíba state from the productive restructuring process (1990 to 2013)", identifying the socioeconomic issues that characterize their development, especially the labor market, considering the participation of individuals by age, gender, home and schooling. The 1990s brought major changes to the labor market with significant changes in the generation of jobs due to the restructuring process that required a skilled workforce more qualified to operate the new technologies deployed. The low rates of growth of the Brazilian economy from 1990s, ended up hurting the dynamism of economic and reflected in the reduction of employment sectors, generating a large mass of unemployed and informal workers. In the Paraíba the importance of the economic sectors has been altered. The agricultural sector has been reducing its share of GDP, over the years, while the industry and service sectors are growing. The restructuring process had major impacts on the labor market in Paraíba, mainly because it is a state with a high rate of social inequalities and contain a class of workers with little education and low level of qualification in some sectors, requiring the help of public policies in the employment so that they can insert themselves in the labor market. This study was accomplished of the form exploratory and descriptive manner using data from IBGE, IPEA, RAIS and CAGED/MTE. It is observed that social differences in Paraíba and uneven growth of economic sectors has hindered economic development in the state, focusing most of the occupations in trade and services sector besides registering high degree of informality, low-skilled workers and weak capacity to create new jobs in the labor market .
