Impactos econômicos dos acidentes fatais de trânsito no Estado da Paraíba no ano de 2012: efeitos sobre a produtividade

The present work aimed to study the socioeconomic impacts of traffic accidents in Paraíba, with the main focus the evaluation of economic losses, represented by indirect costs and more specifically directed to lost productivity, observed from the cases of deaths found in the base data from the Mortality Information System (SIM) of the Ministry of Health of Brazil. From the information available was traced socioeconomic profile of casualties who died in the state of Paraíba in the period from 2012 To meet the proposed objective, beyond databases YES, the National Research by Household Sample was used, in order to obtain the average monthly income of Paraiba in 2012 made up using the methodology of human capital with emphasis on use of potential Years of Life Lost (PYLL), which was considered the age group 18-60 years as potentially productive . Research has indicated the main results, the following: i) were observed in the period evaluated 969 cases of deaths across the Paraíba, which showed more significant profile young people aged 20 to 29 years old, male and motorcycle users . Observed that total 760 were within the age range desired profile for evaluation, however five of them have exactly 60 years, which reduced the sample for the purpose of calculation for 755 observations. ii) The results point to economic losses, represented by indirect costs of lost productivity in the order of R$ 70,501,950.33 (at 2012 prices). Therefore recommended that the expansion and creation of policies to prevent accidents, promoting awareness and respon-sibility.
