O papel das ONGs nas questões públicas: um estudo de caso do CEDHOR na área de direitos humanos

dc:description.abstractNon-governmental organizations in Brazil operates in several areas, contributing to the development of citizenship, expansion of democracy and the countervailing political practices, assisting the public administration in order to minimize the social problems in the country. In this paper we present a case study that aimed to introduce an investigation that could highlight the organizational and institutional framework of an ONG. The study was done in an association engaged in promoting human rights and meets the public policy issues in the city of Santa Rita / PB, Centro de Direitos Humanos Dom Oscar Romero - CEDHOR. This study aimed to the analysis of the institutional development of CEDHOR in relation to their goals and actions developed for human rights of the population of Santa Rita / PB. From the analysis of the research data, it was possible to visualize the ONG collaborates with the public management of the city of Santa Rita, in respect for human rights, providing important contributions to the municipal communities, promoting access to public policies, guiding the population about their rights and duties, working to promote social welfare. It was also evident that the lack of financial resources and partnerships with public agencies and other organs of civil society, especially with the municipal administration of the city of Santa Rita, hinders the achievement of institutional objectives and the implementation of CEDHOR actions.
