Abstract
dc:description.abstractThere is no current data on quantitative or distribution of pure animals registered in Paraíba, and this is our only gene bank, with breeding animals, it would be impossible to study genetic improvement. This work aims to survey the population of pure animals registered in the State of Paraíba, as well as their marketing flow, informing the geographical location of these animals and whether their quantitative makes possible a genetic evaluation. The research was conducted with data provided by the Association of Goat and Sheep Breeders of Paraíba (APACOO) for all breeders of registered purebred dairy goats. The herds were distributed in seven municipalities of Cariri Paraibano. Exploratory visits were made to 26 properties and information was collected based on a previously prepared guide. During these visits, we were granted access to genealogical records only to assess / attest to the animal's existence on the property, preventing it from computing in this survey dead animals, whether sold or not suitable for breeding. Surveys were conducted at exhibitions and auctions to analyze trade, flow and size. Thus, the data collected in interviews were crossed with those observed in the field giving a better precision to the research. The observed results demonstrate a low quantitative of animals, being impossible of a pure genetic analysis registered, a concentration in two cities of the caribbean Paraíba as well as an importation of animals coming from the Southeast region of the country.
