A avaliação da documentação permanente do arquivo da Faculdade de Direito do Recife

In general, as occurs in most institutions, the "history file", did not represent a "permanent file", that is, sets of documents selected by careful process of evaluation in order to express the activities and functions of the institution. In most of them, the collections of the "archive" presented themselves dispersed, and their documents saved without any criteria. No escaping this rule, we have the case of the Law School of Recife - FDR, which with 186 years of existence, during which amassed huge volume of documents, resulting directly from their core activities. Preserve not mean to keep everything but "evaluate" documentation discards the unnecessary and creates minimum conditions for survival of the physical and document information. The objective is to address issues related to document management, emphasizing the procedures for classification, valuation and disposal of documents held by the Archives of FDR. We used the literature and impressions of the experience within the file in question. The work is justified by the notion that the document evaluation is a key activity in the practice of records management and to the vitality of the permanent files. In the absence of such policies, the files tend to become bulky document repositories, unviable receiving treatment and therefore no possibility of providing knowledge diffusion potential that holds the main function of the permanent file. The information gathered in the diagnosis pointed out several deficiencies regarding the conservation and packaging of documents belonging to the Archive, which undermines the administrative action and the principle of preservation and memory. On the other hand, it is noticeable the body's sensitivity FDR manager in making the changes and adjustments in the sector studied, providing conditions to minimize the problems presented. Finally, it is concluded that assessment of the volume of documents collected by the university archives should be seen as a decisive factor and essential to the preservation of memory and information dissemination.
