A preocupação com as catástrofes naturais chega ao âmbito dos arquivos

This paper proposes contribute from discussion on the process of preservation and conservation of documents damaged by natural disasters, with an emphasis on claims arising from the flood action. For that deepen the study on Conservation and Rescue Committee called Blue Shield, as well as presenting the practices adopted by Brazilian institutions such as the National Council on Archives and the National Library, which have guidelines in case of accidents by water. This article constitutes therefore a case study, based on the literature, involving consequences of natural disasters, focusing on water as a risk element in documentation, and in view of the preservation media, recovery and treatments.
