Aspectos da questão agrária na paraíba: ocupações, assentamentos e impactos territoriais da reforma agrária (1984 a 2013)
Abstract
dc:description.abstractPoverty and social inequality are structural problems of the Brazilian countryside and, therefore, the Paraiba countryside. To combat then it is necessary to start the democratization of land. This approach, however, has found strong obstacles to be accomplished. The biggest one is the alliance between the state and landlordism to forbid the expansion of the peasant class. Without access to the land, paraibanos farmers, especially from the second half of the 1980’s, have been fighting for the right to a piece of ground. Under pressure, the state can not the dissolution of the conflicts using its police and legal apparatus, expropriate or buy real estate with the purpose of creating Settlement Projects (SP). It was this way that were created in Paraiba, between 1984 and 2013, 302 SP’s covering 284,464.0 hectares which were settled 14,340 families. But what these results represent from the point of view of the progress of land reform in the state? What is the relationship between the occupation and the establishment of settlements? What are the territorial impacts of establishing settlements in the state? The study in question tries to answer these questions. To do so this work is based on the bibliographic research, in the collection, processing and analysis of secondary data with INCRA and IBGE and fieldworking.
