Aspectos geotécnicos da construção do aterro do projeto Rio - Setor Pinheiros

This thesis deals with the construction of the embankment of the Projeto Rio - Setor Pinheiros in the area of the Guanabara bay called Manguinhos. It describes some methods of construction of embankments on soft deposits as hidraulic fills to allow the use of this lands as residential areas. It concentrates on the problem of construction, instrumentation and analysis of the performance of the Projeto Rio - Setor Pinheiros. All the geotechnical investigation programs planned and carried out were interpreted in the sense of defining fundamental soil parameters to be used in the studying of enbankment behaviour. It was used, as usual, the Terzaghi’s Theory of Consolidation to study the settlements.
