Contribuição ao conhecimento da taxonomia em Thais (Stramonita) haemastona (Linnaeus, 1767) (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Muricidae)

The gastropod mollusc Thais haemastoma (Linnaeus, 1767) is characterized, including its taxonomic positioning up to the subclass level. Descriptions of the shell, operculum and radula are included, as well as of some soft parts which represents taxonomically important characters. Data related to geographic distribution, synonyms and records of the species in Brazil are also given.
