Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis research project investigated the reuse and recycling of waste glass fibre to produce filament wound composite tubes that can be used to replace existing cardboard tubes. Waste taken from glass fibre weaving has been used to produce composite tubes with a good quality surface finish and higher mechanical properties than existing cardboard tubes used in the packaging of woven fabrics. The tubes produced using waste glass fibres from the weaving process demonstrate superior compression properties to cardboard tubes.
