We Can Be Gay and Still Save the World

Abstract

The exegesis We Can Be Gay and Still Save the World explores the research question of whether a New Adult science-fiction novel can be homonormative in nature, with a vast array of LGBT+ individuals as the main ensemble cast, without overpowering the main themes and storyline of the novel. In order to normalize queerness, identities must be overt and unquestionable yet still subtle in regards to the main plot, character relationships, and themes of transhumanism and morality.
