Projekty rozwojowe w tubylczej społeczności Meksyku i ich społeczno-kulturowe konsekwencje

Mikrokredyty to program rozwojowy uważany powszechnie za nowatorskie narzędzie walki z ubóstwem w krajach „rozwijających się”. Formalnym celem mikrokredytów jest zmiana sytuacji wykluczenia, a więc włączenie beneficjentów programu w główny nurt gospodarki. Mikrokredyty mają jednak wiele nieprzewidzianych skutków. Niniejsza praca doktorska oparta jest na kilkuletnich badaniach terenowych w jednej społeczności indiańskiej w Meksyku. Celem rozprawy jest opisanie z punktu widzenia antropologii społecznej konsekwencji programu mikrokredytów realizowanego w badanej społeczności oraz wskazanie mechanizmów, które do tych konsekwencji prowadzą. Wyniki badan autorki wskazują, że mikrokredyty w przeważającej części przypadków nie prowadzą do polepszenia materialnego poziomu życia pożyczkobiorców. Często za to stają się przyczyną nadmiernego zadłużenia. Jednocześnie program ten może oddziaływać czy negatywnie na lokalne relacje społeczne. Microcredits is a development program widely considered as an innovative tool to fight against poverty in the "developing world". The formal purpose of microcredits is to change the situations of exclusion and therefore to include the beneficiaries in the mainstream economy. Microcredits have, however, a number of unexpected consequences. This thesis is based on several years of field research in one of the indigenous communities in Mexico. The aim of the thesis is to describe, in terms of social anthropology, the consequences of microcredits program implemented in that community and to identify the mechanisms that lead to these consequences. According to the research results of the author, micro-credits in most cases do not lead to the improvement of material status of borrowers. Moreover, they often become a cause of over-indebtedness. At the same time, this program can negatively affect local social relations.
