Rola związków fenolowych produkowanych przez zielenice makroskopowe w odpowiedzi na stres środowiskowy

Celem rozprawy była izolacja i charakterystyka frakcji fenolowej zielenic makroskopowych oraz określenie roli związków fenolowych w odpowiedzi tych organizmów na czynniki stresowe, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem ich znaczenia w chemicznych interakcjach środowiskowych. Punktem wyjścia było założenie, że produkcja polifenoli stanowi element strategii adaptacyjnej umożliwiającej zarówno ochronę przed stresem oksydacyjnym, jak i modulowanie relacji międzygatunkowych poprzez mechanizmy allelopatyczne. Praca wypełnia istotną lukę badawczą dotyczącą chemicznej charakterystyki słodkowodnych makroglonów i stanowi podstawę do dalszych badań nad ich potencjałem aplikacyjnym oraz rolą w funkcjonowaniu ekosystemów wód śródlądowych. The aim of the dissertation was isolation and characterization of the phenolic fraction from green macroalgae and determination of the role of phenolic compounds in the response of these organisms to environmental stressors, with particular emphasis on their significance in chemically mediated ecological interactions. The study was based on the assumption that polyphenol production constitutes an adaptive strategy that enables both protection against oxidative stress and modulation of interspecific relationships through allelopathic mechanisms. The dissertation fills an important research gap concerning the chemical characterization of freshwater macroalgae and provides a basis for further studies on their potential applications and their role in the functioning of inland aquatic ecosystems.
