Praca doktorska Ambient. Kultury słuchania i sposoby posługiwania się dźwiękiem podejmuje zagadnienie muzyki ambient jako gatunku muzycznego oraz kategorii opisowej współczesnej kultury muzycznej. Stanowi syntezę perspektyw poznawczych, możliwych do wykorzystania przy analizie ambientu oraz historyczny przegląd praktyk artystycznych związanych z ambientem, oraz szeroko pojętą muzyką tła. W centralnym miejscu wywodu znajduje się szeroko omawiany i teoretycznie rekonstruowany typ słuchania ambientowego, jednocześnie najistotniejszy komponent definicji ambientu, jak i ważny z wielu względów aspekt interpretacji współczesnych kultury słuchania. The doctoral dissertation Ambient. Cultures of Listening And the Ways of Using Sound investigates the issue of ambient music as a musical genre and a descriptive category of contemporary music culture. It is a synthesis of cognitive perspectives that can be used in the analysis of ambient, and a historical overview of artistic practices related to ambient and broadly understood background music. At the central point of the thesis, the type of ambient listening is discussed and theoretically reconstructed. The ambient listening is the crucial component of the definition of ambient music and an important aspect of the contemporary culture of listening interpretations.
