Znad fiordów do metropolii. Obrazy miasta i miejskiej wędrówki w wybranych powieściach norweskich

Dysertacja zawiera analizę następujących powieści: "Głód" (1890) Knuta Hamsuna, "Jenny" (1911) Sigrid Undset, trylogia o Alberte (1926-1939) Cory Sandel, "Rand" (1990) Jana Kjærstada, "16.07.41" (2002) Daga Solstada oraz "Idź, czyli o sztuce dzikiego i poetyckiego życia" (2006) Tomasa Espedala. Jej cel stanowi zbadanie sposobów ukazania w poszczególnych utworach miasta w kontekście widocznych w nich relacji między miejskością a przyrodą. Kolejnym celem dysertacji jest określenie sposobów poruszania się bohaterów powieści w miejskiej przestrzeni oraz wpływu ich ruchu na jej obraz. Narzędziem wykorzystanym do opracowania tej kwestii jest skonstruowany w części teoretycznej rozprawy model figury flâneura. W toku analizy, która czerpie także z różnych teorii i myśli wpisujących się w nurt badań nad miejskością, reprezentujących takie dyscypliny, jak socjologia, antropologia kulturowa czy filozofia, problematyzacji ulega związek między elementami dychotomii miasto/przyroda (natura/kultura), stanowiący podstawę do wyróżnienia typowo norweskich cech badanych tekstów miejskich. The dissertation contains an analysis of the following novels: 'Hunger' (1890) by Knut Hamsun, 'Jenny' (1911) by Sigrid Undset, Alberta trilogy (1926-1939) by Cora Sandel, 'Rand' (1990) by Jan Kjærstad, '16.07.41' (2002) by Dag Solstad and 'Tramp: Or the Art of Living a Wild and Poetic Life' (2006) by Tomas Espedal. Its purpose is to examine representations of the city in the analysed works of fiction in the context of relations between the urban and nature, visible in the novels. Another purpose is to determine ways in which characters move in the urban space and how their movement affects the image of that space. This problem is studied using a model of the flâneur figure, constructed in the theoretical part of the dissertation. In the course of analysis, which refers to various theories and ideas representing the field of urban studies and such disciplines as sociology, cultural anthropology and philosophy, the author problematizes the relationship between the elements of city/nature (nature/culture) dichotomy. That gives grounds for recognising some typically Norwegian characteristics of the analysed urban texts.
