A Systematic Revision of the Genus Heteranthera (sensu lato; Pontederiaceae)

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

The genus Heteranthera Ruiz and Pavon (sensu lato) contains species which grow submersed or emersed in streams and marshes. Species of the genus are found mainly in tropical and subtropical areas of the New World and Africa. Heteranthera may be distinguished from other genera of the Pontederiaceae by having three stamens and six perianth wings.
