Epidemiologie und Risikofaktoren von Methicillin-resistenten-Staphylococcus-aureus (MRSA) kolonisierten oder infizierten stationären Patienten des Universitätsklinikum Aachen im Jahre 2003 : eine deskriptive Studie
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe number of MRSA positive patients continues to increase globally and overproportionately in Germany. The introduction of national hygiene measures in Germany has not been able to slow this trend. During 2003, epidemiological data and risk factors were collected from MRSA-positive patients at the University Hospital Aachen, with the aim of enabling earlier detection and isolation of patients to reduce the number of nosocomial transmissions. Additionally, half of the patient sample received a skin screening. The results of the study have implications for a) the usual extended time period until MRSA is identified; b) the high risk areas of the clinic including Intensive Care, internal medicine and surgery; and c) antibiotic therapies usually applied before MRSA is detected.
