Beurteilung der elektrischen Aktivität der Mm. biceps brachii et infraspinatus bei kindlicher Lähmung des Plexus brachialis mit Hilfe der HSR-Elektromyographie
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe Helmholtz Institute for Biomedical Engineering in Aachen developed a high spatial electromyograhy procedure, that permits a non-invasive examination of single motor units. This procedure was used in this study to examine the electrical activity of m. biceps brachii and m. infraspinatus in children with obstetric brachial plexus lesions. Our main goals were the classification of the degree of damage as well as the documentation of therapy results. It was shown that a graduation of the measurements in different disease stages was possible for m. biceps brachii by using histogram, highest amplitude, Chi ((²) and muscle conduction velocity. Moreover therapy courses could be distinguished. M. infraspinatus can not be classified easily into different disease stages due to its anatomical conditions. The muscle possesses a strong fascia, which increases in its thickness under strain. So the signal reception is impaired. The system of high spatial resolution electromyography, that was developed at the Helmholtz - Institute for Biomedical Engineering in Aachen, shows a clinical applicableness in children with obstetric brachial plexus palsy, which can complete the common needle electromyograhy.
