Frakturverhalten verschiedener Wurzelstiftsysteme in vitro

Abstract

dc:description

In order to reach sufficient retention of restorations on endodontically treated teeth and in order to stabilize the remaining tooth structure various post systems can be inserted in the root canal. This study compares a titanium post system to a ceramic and a fibre-reinforced composite post system luted with two different types of mounting material. For this purpose composite specimen consisting of a two-paste composite material were provided with posts consisting of titan, ceramic or fibre-reinforced composite. Ten posts of each group were luted with a self-curing hybrid ionomer, whereas the other ten of each group were luted with a two-paste composite. All six groups of specimen were embedded in a modeling resin and loaded on a universal testing machine at 135° to its long axis. The applied forces as well as destruction and breaking mode were analyzed. In general all tested combinations of post systems and mounting materials can be used. The titanium posts caused most destruction, followed by the group of fibre reinforced composite posts. The bond strength between all tested cements and posts can be assessed as sufficient enough to combine all tested cements and posts. Therefore six tested combinations of cements and posts can be used in clinical applications. According to several authors´ recommendation, there should be an isolating layer of cement between post and root in order to offer protection to the remaing tooth substance against occuring forces. Consequently post and root canal should not be perfectly congruent to each other. Concerning esthetic aspects tooth-colored translucent materials should be preferred, especially with respect to the prominent localization of incisors. Further research may examine hydrolytical and mechanical long-term influences on the boundary layer as well as on the qualities of adhesive bond to dentin of pulpless teeth.
