Entwicklung einer mechanischen Verbindungstechnik für Sandwichwerkstoffe

dc:descriptionOne of the essential advantages of sandwich elements is high rigidity combined with low weight. These characteristics are ideal for the realization of large structures under great loads. However, in practical applications of mechanical engineering, sandwich elements are mostly used for subordinate tasks. The main reason for this is the lack of a generally applicable joining technology for such elements. The first part of this thesis discusses the systematic development of all principle solutions for a mechanical joining of two sandwich elements according to systematic engineering design theory as well as their evaluation and selection for further development. In the second part of the thesis, a strength-calculation of the best joining principles is carried out basing on an assumed general load case. Thereby, the calculations for the connecting- and joining-elements are formulated in a universally applicable way. These principle solutions are worked out as prototypes in the third part of the thesis. Therefore, the quantitative design parameters are defined and the calculation of the joints' strength (see part two of the thesis) is repeated with the actual values. After having thus proven the dimensioned parts' strength, all necessary production documents are provided. The prototypes are manufactured in the institute'S own workshop.
