Integration von Diodenlasern in modulare Hochleistungs-Nd:YAG-Laser
Abstract
dc:descriptionDiode pumped solid state laser are well known, due to their high average power compared to lamp pumped systems. Still, they show disadvantages by means of thermo mechanics and design complexity. Where lamp pumped rod systems got two pump lamps per high power head, the same rod has to be pumped using up to 100 high power diode lasers instead. All diode lasers have to to be cooled and electrically connected, while each diode laser can be observed as a single resistance in the flow system and the pressure drop item is even increasing in scaling power by using several laser heads in series. In transversally pumped laser heads another problem is in the need for an entrance window for the pump light. The reflector is getting more sophisticated or even separated in different parts, what suffers the efficiency of the reflector. Another item of diode pumped solid state rod lasers is the need for a more efficient rod cooling, due to the higher pumping efficiency. This thesis is solving most parts of items described by analyzing four main objectives: Integration principles of diode lasers into diode pumped solid state lasers are analyzed, especially the integration of diode lasers in transversally pumped Nd:YAG rod lasers. Analysis of the various cooling schemes to calculate their pressure drop and reduce the resistance in the assembly. Looking into the basics of laser rod cooling to increase the efficiency and reduce pressure drop in order to optimize cooling for the needs of diode pumped systems. Analysing and comparison of possible laser head designs, to reduce the number of parts by keeping or increasing modularity with the goal of reducing system costs and keeping maintenance costs low.
