Die Interaktion von parodontaler Regeneration und orthodontischer Zahnbewegung
Abstract
dc:descriptionIn the present animal experiment the influence of regenerative periodontal therapies alone (experiment A) and in combination with orthodontic tooth movement (experiment B) was investigated. In experiment A the effect of enamel matrix derivatives (Emdogain(R)) in acute-chronic defects at the canines of four Foxhound dogs was analyzed. Following scaling, root planing, and conditioning with citric acid the defects were treated with Emdogain(R). This had a positive influence on the formation of cementum and bone compared to the defects treated with scaling and Prefgel(R) (EDTA) only. The apical migration of epithelium was not enhanced by the use of Emdogain(R) but rather inhibited. Experiment B dealt with the effect of regenerative periodontal procedures in acute-chronic defects of for Foxhound dogs in combination with orthodontic tooth movement. Following scaling and citric acid conditioning the second premolars were mesially treated with Emdogain(R), distally with Emdogain(R) and a resorbable vicryl membrane and either intruded or translated. As control teeth served the first premolars, which were only treated with scaling and citric acid conditioning and not moved. It may be concluded that the movement of periodontally affected teeth with the additional use of regenerative periodontal procedures is more promising than without.
